A growing demand for more affordable HD shoots in 24p, and the camera's ability to shoot TRUE High Definition in 720p & 1080i are the main reasons for the addition.
I looked at all the popular "mini" cameras at the time, and the AG-HVX200 is an exceptional & diverse camera shooting better pictures than much of the HDV and "card camera" competition because of its low compression codec and a traditional 3 CCD sensor instead of a CMOS imager.
